Look Close and Look Within
~ Being In Invaluable Fleeting Moment ~

Consulate General of Japan, Melbourne Australia

01 July - 30 August  2024

While last year’s Look Up and Look Around ~ Gratitude and Appreciation in Everyday Life ~ exhibition mainly focused on land/sea/cloudscape and daily objects, Look Close and Look Within is a collection of artworks that highlights the flora that surrounds and resides within us. It conveys the feelings that we experience when we are present in the fleeting moment and feel a sense of connection to what is in front of us.

Being in the now enables us to re-connect and re-align with our true self, which seems ever so important in our current society.

The artist has continued to explore deeper into the present moment for the source of gratitude and joy that one can sense even during the hardest of times. She wishes to help us feel present and truly defenceless within, to be grounded in our true selves through the creation of warm, safe, calm, peaceful spaces where each artwork stands.

Each watercolour painting in this series was created using a generous amount of water on cotton paper before gently placing the paints. This technique creates soft edges to give them a gentle and almost dreamy effect. While each piece has a reference point, they were also painted intuitively without a draft, resulting in beautiful texture, depth and nuance.

All paintings are available for private viewing after this exhibition.

Look Up and Look Around
~ Gratitude and Appreciation in Everyday Life ~

Consulate General of Japan, Melbourne Australia

01 May - 30 June  2023

Little things in our daily life, once noticed, can make us feel joyful and grateful for what we have. Stop and look around. Breathe and appreciate the air. Life can be non-stop and hectic but that is exactly when we need to stop and come back to the moment and embrace past and future memories and feelings. The artist hopes that this exhibition can offer someone such a moment when he/she/they walks by.

Watercolour is mainly used to express a free flowing and clear feeling to create a sense of spaciousness in the mind of the viewers as well as where the artworks stand.
